Two ways to take captions with you.
Choose a separate caption track when you need flexibility. Choose a captioned video when the text needs to be part of the picture.
For captions you can still change.
An SRT file contains subtitle text and start and end times. Upload it as a separate caption track to a video platform or open it in another editor. Viewers may be able to switch captions on or off where the platform supports that control.
SRT does not contain Vid2Subs fonts, colors, positions, or animations. The player or publishing platform decides how it looks. Keep this file if you expect to correct wording later, need a portable track, or want selectable captions.
For a look that travels with the video.
A captioned MP4 has the chosen subtitles rendered into the picture. Your styling stays visible when the video plays elsewhere, but viewers cannot turn those burned-in captions off or edit them as a separate track. Keep important visual details clear of the text area.
Vid2Subs renders this output in your browser. MP4 export requires browser media and encoding support and may be unavailable on some devices. It can take longer on phones or older computers. Check the finished file before sharing, especially its audio, aspect ratio, and caption placement.
Which one should you download?
Use SRT if a platform accepts caption tracks, you want viewers to toggle them, or you need to hand off editable text. Use MP4 if you want designed, always-visible captions baked into a short clip. You can export both: the SRT is useful for later corrections, while the MP4 is ready for a visual review.
Before either export, check the timing against playback and correct names, numbers, and quiet speech by ear.
